Batimat is France’s major international building exhibition, welcoming over 380,00 visitors from more than 170 countries. It’s the perfect opportunity to see Huet’s latest innovations for acoustic rated doorsets and fire rated doorsets.

Huet’s wide range of acoustic doors was perfect for the project. The 45 Rw dB ISA DX 43 was fitted in each of the teaching studios to provide exceptional acoustic properties. The performance area with it’s different requirements was fitted with five 41 Rw dB rated Club 39 doorsets. Most doorsets used a single vision panel while three of the performance area doorsets required extra visibility for safety reasons; double vision panels were installed while maintaining their acoustic rating.

BIMM Dublin’s fire rated doorsets for use in public areas were also supplied by Huet. Both acoustic rated doorsets and fire doors were finished in Ash real wood veneer.

Algeria’s continued growth as a tourist and business destination has seen demand for hotel accommodation outpace supply. Major international hotel chains are racing to fill the gap with impressive new hotel developments while famous established names are refurbishing facilities to meet the demands of 21st Century tourists and business travellers.

The city of Tlemcen dates back to the Roman Empire, it enjoys a rich history and elegant blend of Arab, Berber, Andalucian and French cultures. Coupled with its cool mountain climate, architecture and urban life Tlemcen has a unique outlook and sophistication. The 5 star Marriott Renaissance Hotel is predicted to become a chic and contemporary addition to Tlemcens tourist facilities when it opens this year.

Huet are supplying a range of doorsets to match the development’s high-class ambience. The 204 guest rooms will be fitted with acoustic and fire rated doors (certified to European standards) with door closer and electromagnetic lock. Corridors will have swinging double doorsets with 60 minute European fire rating and integral locking device.

Meanwhile Algiers famous 5 star Hotel El Aurassi is currently undergoing a €56m (£49m) refit. Again Huet have been selected to supply acoustic doors for the Hotels 416 rooms, 30 suites and the Presidential Suite. Their uniquely flexible production process will enable Huet to fully meet the El Aurassis uncompromising specification: doors with 42 Rw dB acoustic rating and bespoke finish of varnished exotic hardwood veneer.

Innovations such as ascending rooms (elevators) and revolving doors heightened the sense of awe. In 2011, the doors of his luxury hotel in London are spinning again, sweeping guests into a world where modern amenities mingle with the extravagance of rail’s golden age.

Over 250 of Huet’s Chorus 42 acoustic rated doorsets have been installed for the hotel rooms. Featuring frames and door leafs of tinted and varnished American White Oak and fitted with electromagnetic locks, the Chorus 42 is a natural partner for the stunning interiors of the St Pancras Renaissance – truly one of London’s architectural icons.

Restored by the prominent architect Richard Martinet, the plush interiors are the creation of renowned interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon, the 81 rooms and suites – the largest among Paris luxury hotels – offer guests the chance to enjoy an exclusive home in a unique setting. Requiring doorsets of high technical performance and a bespoke finish to match the luxury interior, the design team selected Huet’s ISA DX43 acoustic rated doorset for the 54 rooms and 27 suites. Huet created a tailor made finish with doorsets of tinted and varnished okoume and mahogany. The hardwood frame was tinted and varnished to match.

Featuring an acoustic rating of 45 Rw dB, the ISA DX43 is integral in extending the tranquil atmosphere that is such a hallmark of the Shangri-La to its rooms and suites.

Almost all of the 106 rooms and 6 suites boast either a view of the sea or tropical gardens – all offer a soft, refined design and luxurious atmosphere. Huet’s ISA DX 39 acoustic rated doorset was selected both for its acoustic performance and its tailor made design options. The hardwood frame with wenge tint and varnish; the door leaf finish of Oberflex Oak Wenge laminate is a natural match for the exotic decor of the Terrou-Bi.

Huet realised that an increase in both height and width to their fire rated doorsets would give  specifiers much greater flexibility for public building projects such as in the health, education and hotel sectors. With a maximum door leaf height of over 2500mm and a maximum combined door leaf width of 2062mm, the new FD30 and FD60 products represent some of the largest, fully certified timber doorsets for use in corridors as a double acting (swinging) application.

Not content only to improve dimensions, Huets engineers have created some of the most highly configurable fire rated swinging doorsets available in the UK today. They are offered with a choice innovative features:

Holding mechanism linked directly to the fire detection system. Either with visible magnets or an invisible system for areas which might be prone to vandalism, hygiene (health projects) or quite simply for aesthetic reasons.

Locking mechanism. These swinging doors are not just designed to be kept open, they can easily be kept closed with a choice of access controls. They are ideal for use in specific areas either for detained persons or for other reasons of security, allowing access only by specific products such a key fobs, swipe cards, numeric codes etc. The mechanism can be linked directly to the fire detection system so that in the event of a fire it automatically unlocks.

Revised door closer mechanism. Huet engineers found that a closer mechanism pivot placed in the upper crosspiece offers not only a greater level of hygiene control but also aids installation and improves robustness in situ.

Huets new FD30 and FD60 swinging doorsets are of course still available with a choice of fully tested vision panels and finishes including laminates, veneers, tinting, engraving or primed and lacquered.

In the 1990′s the Majestic was restored to it’s former art deco glory and it’s latest refurbishment and extension from 2008 to 2010 has built on that heritage. Lucien Barrière Hôtels chose Huet’s premier ISA DX 45 acoustic rated doorset finished with a bespoke Hubler and Oberflex varnished real oak veneer for rooms in the new wing.

Huet’s ability to tailor a doorset finish which matches the elegant interior design, and the high acoustic performance was of crucial importance to the refurbishment team.
